Tea Tasting Club

This was my first shipment from the Tea Tasting Club! The first tea, Restful (1 tbsp in 8 oz of boiling water for 5 min), was a soothing chamomile blend. While I am not a huge fan of chamomile teas, this one has a milder, unobtrusive flavour that blends well with the other flavours of lemon balm, lavender, and valerian. The focus black tea (1 tsp in 8 oz of boiling water for 4 min) was my favourite, a refreshing black tea with a subtle yet refreshing strawberry flavour.

I might have let it steep for too long because it got bitter. 😢

So I received a matcha pack and a tea (green tea, lemon grass, tangerine) pack.
First the matcha; it was better than most matcha I've tried. It tasted a lot more earthy and less of that shallow 'grassy' taste, which as a matcha-lover, i thoroughly enjoyed. I tried the recommended 1 tsp of matcha in my latte first and it was good but I personally like my matcha concentrated, so adding another tsp just took it to another level for me. And the color of the matcha was also a bit more vibrant. Easy 5/5. I used it to make an iced matcha latte and devoured it in no time.
Secondly, the tea. For some background, I am not big on tea and barely consume any. However I was open to try this lemongrass green tea, and it wasn't bad. I didn't love it, but I found out that adding a splash of honey with a sprinkle of black salt gave it a lot more depth and I liked it much more that way. I'm sure someone with a better taste for teas would have appreciated it a lot more than me. That said, I didn't hate it, which I do when I've tried to drink most other green/herbal teas, so that is definitely something. So, a 4/5 from me.

I used the matcha to make an iced matcha latte and it was amazing! So smooth and no bitter aftertaste! Definitely one of the best matcha I’ve had!

It was great to try two different teas and I really loved the matcha!
