Hawai'i in our Hearts

Hawai'i in our Hearts

Almost four years ago, @thetinyteamaker and our Logistics Coordinator (Alexandra Rae) were in Hawai’i learning about traditional medicines and knowledge from the communities there.

While we were there, we witnessed first hand the impacts of ongoing land occupation, as well as the tremendous courage of the communities who are actively resisting.

The events of the world this week have our team feeling deeply sad — it feels uncomfortable to be on social media slinging tea. Is equity on a global scale even achievable?

I don’t have the answers, but I know that it’s important we try. This photo was taken when we were pulling up invasive species and planting trees. Three species of trees were planted in a triangle to help and support each other. I think that’s an important image to reflect on this week. How can we act as helpers to each other, especially those who need our voices and our actions as they face ongoing oppression.
