Looking Back

Looking Back

Sometimes, perpetually, I find myself caught up in being a tiny brand growing towards being a big brand. Three times today, I found myself telling our origin story… how we have grown… and where we are headed.
.
.
It doesn’t seem too long ago that I was toting a suitcase full of tea onto the number 1 bus to the commercial kitchen where I manufactured once a month.
.
.
It doesn’t seem that long ago when I was hand stuffing brown bags full of loose leaf tea, applying labels while I watched true crime in my basement apartment.
.
.
But, here we are. Two years ago, I was afraid to take the leap in paying $200 per month for a shared kitchen space. One year ago, I was scared about signing my very first commercial lease for a factory space.
.
.
We still haven’t done what I set out to do with this brand, end domestic violence. I get really frustrated with that sometimes, and it generally pushes me to go deeper with our work and model. We are always innovating.
.
.
Our team is getting larger, and sometimes I forget the girl who wrote a tea making manifesto on her winter vacation; hand stitched teabags together for a class project; and wanted to be a professor.
.
.
This journey is the best thing to have ever happened to me, and I’m so excited for what’s in store.
