Feelings are signals.
I'm seeing lots of posts about the highs and lows of entrepreneurship. The high and lows are real. Regardless of whether you are a business owner or work in a different role, ups and downs are part of the journey. Some days, especially ones where I have a lot of learning to do, I find myself thinking “I should just stop.”
The reality is, whether I choose to stop or not, the feelings are not going to go away. Feelings are signals and I’m learning that (just like when the tea bag machine makes a clunky sound) there needs to be a thorough investigation process to get to the root cause.
For uncomfortable feelings I try to dig deep on why I am feeling what I am feeling. Once I can get deep, and very specific, about what the feelings are telling me – then I can start sourcing the systems, help, or expert feedback needed to address the issue.
For over-the-top high feelings, I try to do everything I can to stop myself from making rash, over confident decisions in this state. This includes looking at all the ways I could go wrong with my logic (in decision making) and sourcing expert feedback (a concept by the Trico foundation of Friendly Wise Skeptic has been super helpful here).
